No Man’s Sky creators Hello Games cannot catch a break. Along with all the refunds and massive player loss, now the development company is getting called out by Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Yoshida talked about No Man’s Sky and all the issues surrounding its launch. Despite personally enjoying the game, Yoshida was critical of how Hello Games, and specifically Sean Murray, presented itself leading up to launch.
"I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting, because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one,” Yoshida said, referencing the lack of multiplayer and other features Murray had promised.
"It wasn't a great PR strategy, because he didn't have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer,” Yoshida said. “But he says their plan is to continue to develop No Man's Sky features and such, and I'm looking forward to continuing to play the game."
When asked if the PlayStation brand had been harmed by No Man’s Sky, Yoshida became much more positive. "I am super happy with the game actually, and I'm amazed with the sales the game has gotten, so I'm not the right person to judge if it has 'harmed' the PlayStation brand,” he said. “I personally don't think so. If anything, I am proud that people can play No Man's Sky on PS4 as well as PC."
So what do you think? Do you agree that Hello Games needed a PR person before launch? Are you still playing No Man’s Sky, or are you in the majority who have stopped? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
