It started with rumors, and now leaks have begun to surface online, confirming the existence of Nvidia's RTX 3060Ti GPU. Fans could somewhat believe that the RTX 3060Ti GPU exists, but not everybody easily believed the claim that it performs faster than the RTX 2080 Super. That's a huge claim considering the RTX 2080 Super was among the fastest GPUs of the previous generation and the RTX 3060Ti sits far behind the RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090 GPUs.
According to Videocardz and their leaked benchmarks, the RTX 3060Ti is said to be 1.4 times faster than the RTX 2060 Super. The RTX 3060Ti is also slightly faster than the RTX 2080 Super, suggesting that the new GPU could be a replacement for the RTX 2080 Super. Leaked specifications for the RTX 3060Ti suggest that the GPU will be similar to the RTX 2080 Super, featuring 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, but going with 14Gbps modules instead of 15.5Gbps as seen on the RTX 2080 Super. The RTX 3060Ti is also expected to be significantly cheaper, carrying a sub $400 price tag, in comparison to the RTX 2080 Super's $700 price tag.
The leaked benchmark suggests that the RTX 3060Ti beats the RTX 2080 Super in all three areas, including rasterizing, ray tracing, and rendering. It's surprising to see that the RTX 3060Ti is capable of winning over the RTX 2080 Super in ray tracing, despite featuring only 38 RT cores instead of 48 RT cores as seen on the RTX 2080 Super.
However, things will only become certain when the card is officially announced and users begin testing it out. Several claims were made during the RTX 3080 reveal, stating that the GPU was twice as fast as the RTX 2080Ti. However, those claims wasn't entirely true. So, we'll have to wait until the GPU is officially announced and then wait for some detailed benchmarks to know for sure how it stacks up against the competition.
