Oddworld: Soulstorm is a re-imagining of the 1998 PlayStation title Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is itself the second game in the first iteration of the series, following 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, which has also been remade into Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! Oddworld: Soulstorm is a direct sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty!, first released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC in 2021.
The Oddworld series follows the misadventures and exploits of Abe, a Mudokon, whose goal is to free his fellow Mudokons from slavery and exploitation by the brutal Glukkons. Oddworld: Soulstorm is significantly darker than its predecessors and counterpart, as it delves into themes of over-industrialization, and was mostly positively received across all of its platform releases.
A collection of all the series’ first iteration games is currently up on Steam. Called The Oddboxx, it contains Abe’s Oddysee, Abe’s Exoddus, Munch’s Oddysee, and Stranger’s Wrath.
