The Outer Worlds announced that the Murder on Eridanos expansion is now available. This is the second and final story expansion and can be purchased individually or as part of The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass. The expansion is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, while the version for Nintendo Switch is set to be released later this year.
The Story
In this expansion, players go to Eridanos and solve a murder mystery in the Halcyon colony. Halcyon Helen, who is Rizzo’s spokesperson, has been found just before the new Spectrum Brown Vodka was released. What makes the task difficult is that everyone is a suspect.
To solve the mystery, players can uncover any clues using the Discrepancy Amplifier. This is a semi-sentient device that reveals inconsistencies and anomalies in a crime scene. With each clue discovered, the game unlocks extra dialogue paths as well as different quest routes.
Throughout this mysterious journey, players get to meet a wide range of interesting suspects. There’s Spencer Woolrich and Burbage-3001, both of whom are co-stars of Helen. Players even get to meet Black Hole Bertie of Rizzo’s Rangers.
Features
One feature that the new expansion brings is the increased level cap by three. This means players now have additional choices when it comes to skill customization. There are also three new science weapons including “The Needler.”
So what else? Players can now explore new territory in addition to being able to visit Eridanos. Eridanos is composed of different asteroid islands that are chained together. The islands house various locations that players visit to solve the mystery.
In a press statement, Obsidian Entertainment Game Director Megan Starks revealed that with this new expansion, they wanted to introduce more memorable characters. Moreover, Starks said that it also reveals more about another infamous corporation.
Meanwhile, Head of Private Division and Executive Vice President Michael Worosz shared that Murder on Eridanos is the perfect story to close this particular chapter. Among many others, he added that players can expect not only a humorous story but one that offers whip-smart dialogues.
The Outer Worlds : Murder on Eridanos is available digitally for $14.99. Players who have the Xbox Game Pass get to enjoy a 10% discount. Players can also get The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass for $24.99. It not only has the Murder on Eridanos expansion but also Peril on Gorgon.
