The next major patch for Paladins is now available on all platforms. The Last Remains Update is a pretty hefty one, and it includes a new champion ready to haunt her enemies.
Meet Kasumi
Fueled by her rage and quest for vengeance, Kasumi has risen in the Last Remains Update and is a force to be reckoned with in Paladins . She is a DPS champion with a unique mechanic where she uses her Yokai Doll to inflict curses upon her foes.
Kasumi’s weapon of choice is the Yokai Doll. Clicking the left mouse button will prompt her to stab the straw doll, dealing 250 damage every 0.6 seconds and applying stacks of Curses to the targeted enemy. Additionally, Kasumi’s abilities can apply up to five stacks of Curse and each stack reduces the damage the affected target deals by 2%. They take increased damage from Kasumi’s abilities as well.
Savage Tear, Kasumi’s alt-fire, not only deals damage but also disarms the target for one second at maximum Curse stacks.
Kasumi is highly mobile as well, thanks to her kit. Her Spirit Lure allows her to place three traps on the map. Reactivating this ability will teleport her to the recently triggered lure, dealing 100 damage, applying three stacks of Curse, and inflicting Fear to enemies nearby.
Body and Soul gives Kasumi the power to project herself outward for two seconds, leaving a physical manifestation behind. She gains increased movement speed while in Ethereal form, though her physical body is vulnerable to damage at this time. Reactivating the ability teleports her back to her body, and if the timer runs out, her physical body teleports to her instead.
Her ultimate, Bitter Betrayal, designates the target as a Betrayer, causing them to explode outwards in a series of projectiles. Enemies hit by the projectiles gain five Curse stacks and take 80 damage every 0.2 seconds for 2.6 seconds. The damage of her ultimate is increased depending on the number of Curse stacks the enemy has.
As you can see, Kasumi deals a lot of damage if you maximize Curse stacking on opponents. It may take you some time to get used to her mechanics, but if you master her, she can be a formidable champion on the battlefield.
So, what can you say about Kasumi? Is she going to be one to watch out for or is she just another DPS champion that will be forgotten in Paladins?
Paladins Last Remains Update is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
