Sweeping changes came to Paragon this week as the game’s New Dawn update and everything from card and hero balance to attack and progression speed is changing for Epic’s first foray into the world of MOBAs. No one is losing the Paragon they already know and love, but the game will feel much different than it used to once you’ve installed the patch.
The most obvious change we’ll see in Paragon post-patch is that everyone on the roster moves and attacks a bit faster than they did prior to Wednesday’s update. Epic says attack speeds and ability cooldowns have been adjusted across the board and that faster game speed “embraces the level of immersion Epic set out to create with the launch of Paragon.” The base stats for every hero, minion and tower in the game have also been tweaked. The new patch also delivers a completely reworked version of Iggy & Scorch, featuring a new Ultimate and other skills.
More than 100 new cards are also included in Paragon’s New Dawn update, giving players an entirely new set of options when configuring their favorite hero(es). The update also introduces a brand-new Gem system, similar to League of Legends’ Rune system, that allows players to further alter the base stats and abilities of their favorite Paragon character(s). And affinities are tied to decks now, instead of heroes, which gives fans the freedom to use their favorite deck(s) with anyone on the Paragon roster. And that’s just the start of the changes we’ll see in New Dawn.
