The Anime Expo weekend was full of pleasant surprises, not only for anime itself but also for anime-inspired video games. SEGA dropped a big one this weekend with its announcement of Phantasy Star Online 2 finally coming to PlayStation 4 this August 31, two years after its initial release on Xbox consoles and PC in 2020. This release is accompanied by Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, a standalone title with the Phantasy Star Online 2 game application.

As with the 2020 global release, these versions of Phantasy Star Online 2 and Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis include localized text and English character voices and remain content current with their Japanese counterparts.
