Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Asobo Studio released a new gameplay overview trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem, showing off more footage of the game’s aspects as well as giving players a taste of what to expect when the narrative-driven adventure game arrives this October 18. A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with the Switch version confirmed to be cloud-based only. Check out the new gameplay overview trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem below.
The trailer kicks off with some action-packed gameplay cinematics showing the return of Amicia and Hugo, the siblings first introduced in A Plague Tale: Innocence. A Plague Tale: Requiem takes place mere months after the end of Innocence, right around the first days of summer. Amicia and Hugo are headed south after their long journey, alongside their mother Beatrice and Lucas, the alchemist the siblings befriended in the first game. Their journey takes them to new lands still spared by the ravages of the deadly plague, a far cry from their hometown which was swallowed by a sea of disease and rats.
While staying in a rendition of 14th century Provence, tragedy quickly strikes their idyllic life. Hugo is once again beset by the Macula illness that plagues him, and soon the disease overtakes Provence. Amicia must journey once again with Hugo to a mysterious island, one that keeps popping up in Hugo’s dreams, in a bid to end his sickness once and for all.
A Plague Tale: Requiem still features the ever-resourceful Amicia; while not as brawny as your regular adventure-seeker, Amicia is quite adaptable and is now equipped with more gear that can help her and Hugo survive. She can now wield a crossbow, for some combat prowess, but besides facing the enemy head-on she has a variety of tools to wield the sea of rats against her enemies. Hugo can now be of help, as he can somewhat use his Macula as a weapon to control the horde of rats against enemies, but weakening him as a result.
The first game in the series, A Plague Tale: Innocence, was one of Player. One’s best games of 2019. Check out our official review for the game here.
