Three new premium add-ons for Planet Coaster are now on Steam, Frontier Developments announced on Friday, featuring coaster construction kits inspired by popular TV shows and films of yesteryear. We can only hope this is the beginning of a new wave of licensed content for Planet Coaster, making it easier to build your own Universal Studios-esque theme park.
Frontier has partnered with the IP owners for Back to the Future, Knight Rider and The Munsters to create a series of in-game tools and assets inspired by popular sights and sounds from each property. A press release for the new content specifically mentions popular vehicles from each, including Dr. Brown’s Delorean, K.I.T.T. and the DRAG-U-LA (no, not the Rob Zombie song). And trailers for each new Planet Coaster add-on also suggest players can build tracks, park attractions and other decor inspired by each of the three iconic properties. There are even new special effects pieces and other bits of flair that will help transport your guests to 1313 Mockingbird Lane or Hill Valley, CA.
Best of all, the new Planet Coaster DLC is actually pretty affordable. Some will be disappointed by Frontier’s decision to package each new construction kit individually, without offering some kind of bundle, but descriptions for the add-ons suggest each is certainly worth $2.99. And the trailers for each construction kit confirm some of the parts, like the vehicles pulled from each franchise, can actually be used on new rides or just as general park decor.
For an early look at the new content coming to Planet Coaster, take a few minutes to check out trailers for all three of the new construction kits. Then head down to the comments and let us know what classic tv show, movie and/or video game you’d like to see in Planet Coaster next.
Planet Coaster is currently available on PC. The game’s first three expansions, inspired by Back to the Future, Knight Rider and The Munsters, are now available on Steam.
