Publisher Crytivo (The Universim, Serin Fate) and developer Missset have just announced the “multiplayer melee mayhem” game Flea Madness. The team-based PvP melee is set to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in 2021.
Flea Madness is a fast-paced multiplayer melee game where players take control of alien fleas. Players can choose from a number of species, customize their own abilities, then take to the exotic arenas and maps to reign supreme over their insect rivals. The game’s main attack is a chomp that requires the attacker to be in close range. Since there is a lack of diversity of weapons, Flea Madness makes up for it by scattering a number of food insects (flies and maggots) around the map that players can eat. When players chomp an enemy, or any of the scattered food insects on the map, they fill up their health point bar. Once it’s filled, players are prompted to evolve, which unlocks additional skills like the “Fart” that prevents enemies from biting and also clouds their vision, and one that is creatively named Vomit, which creates a puddle of slowing goo that damages those who stay in it.
Publisher Crytivo has just finished hosting a free pre-alpha weekend on PC. Players can participate in further alpha tests by joining the Crytivo Discord and claiming a game key.
Although features are still limited, the game provides a starting guide for those who would like to try it as well as a sneak peek as to what has yet to be added to Flea Madness. For example, there are currently two flea classes: Slobbers and Tentaculas, as well as their skills and evolution stages. More flea classes should be added as development proceeds. Currently, the pre-alpha has a capture the flag mode (called Invasion: Capture the Worm) as its only game mode, but we should expect other classic modes soon such as death matches or free-for-alls.
Flea Madness will launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in 2021. It is also available to be wishlisted on Steam as of this writing.
