The latest Pokémon Presents showcase gave the world massive insights into what is coming for the franchise's games and other media, including the confirmation of "Pokémon Champions," its next fighting game.

However, despite the massive excitement for the upcoming game, the latest reports claim that there is a catch, and it will be something that may underwhelm gamers and fans once it arrives.

'Pokémon Champions' Confirmed: New Fighting Game Coming Soon

Pokémon Day has a lot to offer fans despite its only 20-minute long showcase, and the company was able to squeeze in different titles to announce, including the new global fighting game, "Pokémon Champions."

The company has released the trailer for the next game and went on to show how much the competitive experiences of the franchise evolved throughout the years.

It started with the famed Game Boy where players who wanted to compete with friends had to do it wired. It then went on to show it evolved in the different consoles of Nintendo throughout the years.

In this upcoming release, Pokémon fans will have the chance to play it on different platforms, which is a first for the franchise, as the company claimed that it will be available to the Switch console and mobile devices.

There is still no exact release date confirmed by Nintendo or The Pokémon Company for the "Pokémon Champions" game. However, it is not being expected for release this year due to the launch of "Pokémon Legends: Z-A."

'Pokémon Champions' Has a Catch That May Underwhelm Fans

The massive excitement for another arena fighting game experience for the "Pokémon" franchise also has a catch for players, and according to GameRant, there may be limitations on which Pokémon can do battle in the upcoming game.

The team has not yet revealed if "Pokémon Champions" will have a specific roster for gamers to use in battle against other trainers, but information from its presentation seems to have confirmed what is coming.

First, the company showed that players will be able to import Pokémon from the cloud-based storage platform of the company, Pokémon Home, best known for its service to the likes of "Pokémon GO," "Pokémon Legends: Arceus," and "Pokémon Scarlet & Violet."

However, it is also known that Pokémon Home is not an unlimited cloud-based storage platform for the franchise, and it has limitations when it comes to the number of caught creatures that it can hold for an account.

This factor can limit the number of Pokémon players can bring to "Pokémon Champions" for them to use in fighting against other trainers in the league.

The upcoming game is expected to be different from the Nintendo Switch's existing "Pokken Tournament DX," the online fighting game that features 3v3 action in an arena-based setting.
