The Jirachi distribution event in April has ended and as May approaches, Pokémon trainers will be receiving a different Mythical Pokémon to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the franchise.

Darkrai is the event Pokémon for May and will be distributed through a serial code handed out by local video game shops like Gamestop or EB games. This is the same method as previous Legendary Pokémon events but also when the Mythical distribution started in February with Mew .

In North America, Gamestop will be the place to go to receive your Darkrai serial code. You normally won’t have to purchase anything, just pop in ask an employee there for the code. Once you get the card, scratch off the back and input the code into your Pokémon X and Y or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

So what’s special about this Darkrai? Besides it being one of the most rare ‘Mon in the game’s history it comes at level 100 with the Bad Dreams ability, an ability that deals damage every turn to sleeping Pokémon . To make the best use of that ability, Darkrai comes with Dark Void, Ominous Wind, Nightmare and Feint Attack.

Like a lot of the Mythical Pokémon , Darkrai can learn a lot of different TMs and HMs so you can change up the attacks however you like. Check out Darkrai’s Pokedex entry from Serebii to get a better idea of what attacks Darkrai can learn.

The Darkrai distribution begins May 1 and ends on May 24 so be sure to get your code as soon as possible.

If you’re unlucky enough to miss out on the Gamestop codes, some trainers have called the Nintendo Customer Service where they provided their Network ID and a code was given over the phone. It’s an option you can try if your local Gamestop doesn’t have enough Darkrai codes.

The Pokémon Company is distributing a Mythical Pokémon every month this year and you can check out the list of ‘Mon below yet to be released. And let us know in the comments section how you plan to train your Darkrai.
