In a surprising move, Niantic has announced some Pokémon in its popular Pokémon Go mobile game will be seeing some changes in their CP.
CP is a Pokémon’s Combat Points, which determines how well they do in battle. In a blog post, Niantic confirmed that the changes to certain Pokémon’s CP will better balance the game. The Niantic blog post confirms that Alakazam, Gengar and Rhydon will see boosts to their CP but there has been no official list of the changes being made.
However, many Pokémon Go players, like the good folks over on the Silph Road subreddit have begun documenting all the changes they have found so far.
The game doesn’t seem to update the CPs, but does so when you try to power up your Pokémon. If the Pokémon’s CP is set to be buffed, then it’ll grow faster but if it’s set to be nerfed you’ll notice the CP will lower instead of rising.
Below is a list of Pokémon having their CPs buffed and nerfed. Those that have not been confirmed by Niantic have an asterisk.
