January is almost over and you know what that means. It’s time to look into what Pokémon GO has in store for Trainers in February. It’s pretty much like the usual monthly update but with an exception: two extra events which are Valentine’s Day and the Lunar New Year.
First, there’s the Research Breakthrough encounter that happens for the entire month. In this one, Trainers have a chance to encounter Snorlax.
Second, is the Pokémon Spotlight Hours that happens every Tuesday at 6:00 PM. Here’s what Trainers can expect:

February Exclusive Events
For the Valentine’s Day event, the GO Battle League is set to have a Love Cup from February 8 until February 15. To enter, Trainers must form a team of Pokémon that are either color red or pink and have a max CP of 1,500. Also, no Legendary or Mythical Pokémon are allowed to be part of the team.
The Lunar New Year-themed event celebrates the Year of the Ox. It’s going to be from February 9 to February 14, and during this period, Trainers can encounter red-colored Pokémon .
