After weeks of speculation and plans to visit Starbucks on the regular, Niantic has announced that Pokémon Go will have a special announcement regarding the inclusion of new Pokémon on Dec. 12.

Obviously, it seems that the Gen 2 Pokémon will be joining Pokémon Go perhaps before the end of the year but the special announcement on Dec. 12 will give more details on the subject.

With employer leaks from Starbucks employees to the code for 100 new Pokémon (the exact number found in the Johto Region) found in one of the latest updates to Pokémon Go in November, it’s a relief to finally know when players can learn more about the biggest update to the biggest mobile game of all-time, to date.

Niantic has done a great job of updating Pokémon Go to make it easier to level up with Daily Missions and catch Pokémon with the Medals but the inclusion of new Pokémon will definitely change the game and increase the user base substantially.

It’ll probably fail to reach the heights Pokémon Go sustained when the game first came out in July, but this will likely bring back a lot of lapsed players.

It’s also a good time to start farming Pokémon Candy for some of the Gen 1 Pokémon that can evolve once the next generation comes to Pokémon Go.

So what do you think of the upcoming announcement of Gen 2 coming to Pokémon Go? When do you think the update will pop up? Sound off in the comments section below.
