Pokémon Sun And Moon demo news has arrived, but Nintendo continues to be sketchy about it. Recent tweets from the Serebii.net webmaster reveal a rather cryptic update.
Serebii, and its webmaster Joe Merrick, have earned great respect within the Pokémon community. That being said, when he speaks up, gamers have a tendency to listen. Monday, Merrick said “Nintendo Italy put out a press release about Milan Games Week and specifically said the demo for ‘Sun And Moon’ won't be there.” He later added that “something is amiss. It’s very odd that they’d specifically mention it won’t be there.”
With that evidence in mind, Pokémon enthusiasts have already begun speculating. Signs of a Sun And Moon demo were first discovered in a Korean ratings board leak in September, but Nintendo has never officially acknowledged its existence. Now, the hardware maker has oddly decided to confirm everything by saying that it won’t be present in Italy. While we don’t have the source press release to go by, it seems to imply that a Sun And Moon demo is planned, but it won’t be featured during Milan Games Week on Oct. 14-16.
If the demo isn’t going to be featured at that event, the next question to ask ourselves is why that might be true. Will the demo already be available for public download by Oct. 14? Is it simply not polished enough to be playable for that date? What we do know is that the next Pokémon Sun And Moon leak from Japan is anticipated for early October. It’s possible that some kind of demo could be revealed then.
A seemingly complete vertical slice of Pokémon Sun And Moon has been on show since Nintendo’s E3 2016 proceedings, so many fans believe that everyone will be able to play some free form of the games either shortly before or after release. That being said, jumping to that conclusion based on that evidence alone is more than a little suspect. Developers routinely bring E3 builds of games for attendees to use. After the convention, many of those polished previews are totally abandoned. Pokémon X And Y was playable in demo form at Gamescom 2013, but its successor doesn’t necessarily have to take the same route.
Pokémon Sun And Moon come to 3DS on Nov. 18.
