The Pokémon XYZ anime is about to wrap in Japan, which will lead Ash and Pikachu to the Alola Region next. Well, after teases of a big announcement, the first trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon anime was released on the official Japanese website.
In it, fans of the anime are witness to a new animation style and how Ash’s journey will change in the Alola Region. No longer is he facing Gyms but he will be going to….school? Take a look at the first preview for the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime below.
The latest issue of CoroCoro teased the Sun and Moon anime with a poster and stated that Ash will be going to school in order to graduate. The anime’s first trailer shows Ash being introduced in a classroom to some familiar faces if you’re following up on the Sun and Moon news.
Ash is also seen wearing a Z-Ring and doing the dance with Pikachu to perform a Z-Move.
Z-Moves are a new mechanic in the Pokémon games with each Pokémon being able to hold a Z-Stone to upgrade one of their moves. There are two different types of Z-Moves confirmed so far, the first being a type-specific Z-Stone that lets Pokémon perform an upgraded attack of the same type.
The second is a species-specific Z-Stone, like the special Munchlax that will be distributed in the first months of Sun and Moon that allows Munchlax’s evolution, Snorlax, to learn a devastating new attack.
Pokémon Sun and Moon anime will premiere in Japan in November.
