Who would have thought the reveal of Alola Rattata could be the biggest news from the Pokémon Sun and Moon Nintendo 3DS Direct, and not because it’s a new Pokémon (even though that’s certainly the case) but because of what it means for the now-infamous Chinese leaks.
For those unaware, a leak from a source close to the Chinese localization of Pokémon Sun and Moon showed off concept art of the final evolutions of the Alola Starters.
Then another leak revealed the new Pokémon were to be included in Sun and Moon , including a rugby monkey, a snowman and a sea cucumber. The sea cucumber Pokémon, Pyukumuku, was later shown to be included in the game, giving a lot of credibility to the leak.
Alola Forms that were yet to be confirmed were also on that list, including Rattata becoming a Dark-type Pokémon, giving even more credibility to the Chinese leaks.
To be fair, the leak didn’t specify whether Rattata and Raticate would become Dark and Normal types, but it seems like a bit of an oversight that can be forgiven, considering they called it before it happened.
So what does that mean for the future of Pokémon Sun and Moon? Well, after predicting both Pyukumuku’s existence and that the Rattata line will be getting an Alolan Form, fans should expect the other leaked Alola Forms to be confirmed leading up to the November release date.
The snowman and rugby monkey from that Chinese leak report should also be true, so keep your eyes peeled.
A recent report showed off how the snowman Pokémon will look and Crabrawler’s version exclusive counterpart is still not confirmed, but it’s only a matter of time until fans can either accept or debunk the report.
