In a few days, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is launching on PC and Nintendo Switch. Even before the release date, a lot has been revealed about the game, including the recently unveiled post-launch content.
Before we take a look into that, Monster Hunter Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, as well as Director Kenji Oguro, gave everyone a look into the game’s co-op gameplay. It’s what you would expect where you can take co-op expeditions like exploring together and discovering Monster Dens. Through this gameplay feature, players can also discuss combat strategy.
The First Two
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is scheduled to be released on July 9. About a week after that, on July 15, the game gets its first-ever post-launch update. It’s going to introduce the Palamute as a rideable Monstie. This is the same one from Monster Hunter Rise.
Title Update 2 then drops on August 5 to bring the Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth as a new co-op quest. Kulve Taroth won’t be available as a rideable Monstie but the materials obtained from her quest can be used to craft new and powerful equipment. New Monsties, like Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos, are also added by the update.
September Updates
September is scheduled to release two updates. Players can expect Title Update 3 to arrive early in the month with Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, and Oroshi Kirin as new Monsties.
Later in the month, Title Update 4 arrives with Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex as new Monsties. Kulve Taroth also makes a return in this one with a high-difficulty co-op quest to give greater rewards.
The Fifth
Title Update 5 is currently planned for October, though no specific date has been revealed. New Monsties coming are Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian. There’s also a special mysterious monster bringing a very difficult co-op quest.
Free Trial
Right now, Switch players can try out the game through the Trial Version. The PC gets the same thing but on the official release date. Regardless of which one is selected, both platforms allow data save and transfer to the full version.
Switch players get another freebie in the form of a special “Kinship Talisman.” This is only available to those who link the game to Monster Hunter Rise.
