Action/horror game Prey finally has a release date. To celebrate the announcement, developer Arkane has shared a new gameplay trailer and revealed some bonuses coming to those who pre-order.
First up, the release date. Prey will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC on May 5. Arkane probably wouldn’t make the announcement if they weren’t positive on the date, so Prey will likely not be getting an unforeseen delay.
Moving on to the gameplay trailer, there’s tons to see here. Not only is there an arsenal of crazy-looking sci-fi weapons, there are also a bunch of creepy alien monsters that you can use these weapons on. Oh yeah, and there’s also some spooky government scientist-looking people that are running experiments on you.
An interesting thing to note: the trailer shows that gameplay isn’t all combat. There’s one segment where the player is shooting foam out of a gun to put out fires. This shows that there will probably be other puzzle-type gameplay situations along with the DOOM-style shooting action.
For those interested in pre-ordering Prey , some pre-order bonuses have already been revealed. Those who pre-order at any retail location will get the Cosmonaut Shotgun pack, which includes protagonist Morgan Yu’s family heirloom Margrave shotgun, three Neuromods players can spend to acquire new abilities, two Medkits, a Fabrication plan to create Shotgun Ammo, a starter kit for building tools and weapons, and an upgrade that helps players preserve resources.
As far as when reviews will be posted, Prey is a Bethesda-published game. This means, given Bethesda’s new approach to game reviews, copies should be sent to the press on May 4. Reviews will likely be posted after the release time.
So what do you think? Are you excited to play Prey on May 5? Will you hold off until reviews get posted? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
