A new expansion is now available in Prison Architect called the Perfect Storm. It introduces calamities like lightning storms, heatwaves, and even rat infestations. Players can get it for $9.99.
In this expansion, players can expect calamities to strike at any moment. When one happens, it can lower happiness and increase unrest among inmates. To minimize the impact, wardens need to train staff and fortify the compound. Players can provide a clean and safe environment for inmates in calamity preparations to get incentives and rewards.
In a statement, Prison Architect Game Director Gaz Wright revealed that the calamities from this expansion challenge players to find solutions to problems in creative ways. Generally, players need to think ahead when constructing their compound.
He went on to say that they’ve worked hard to make sure that the calamities are fun challenges that players can take on. Wright shared that similar to previously released expansions, calamities in Perfect Storm are inspired by popular prison fiction.
For this new expansion, players can look forward to these key features:
- Riot Before the Storm
- Calamities like Deep Freezes, Heatwaves, Rat Infestations, and Lightning Storms can have different impacts, such as causing structural damage, lowering prison ratings, and wreaking havoc in the compound.
- Come Cell or High Water
- To get immediate relief from calamities, avail the services of Pest Control, Plumbers, Repairmen, and Road Maintenance Emergency Services.
- There are also ways for staff to mitigate damage and ensure that things run smoothly, like Electrician, Cold Control, Fire Safety, First Aid Training, and Pest Removal Training.
- Granted Refuge
- Players can get grants for Disaster Relief, Heatwaves, Emergency Protocol, Subsidence, Advanced Staff Training, and Utility Retrofit Grant to fund preparations for Calamities.
- Raining Rats and Dogs
- Be sure to do some due diligence by checking current and forecasted weather conditions.
- Use weather prediction objects to stay apprised of any impending disasters.
