Prosperous Universe is officially launching on Steam this April 20. This should be good news for fans considering that the economic space simulator has been in development for seven years.
For those not familiar with the game, the first public version was released in December 2018. After that, the game went free-to-play in 2019 and as promised by Simulogics, it did not involve any microtransactions. The game then went into Early Access in 2021. For those wondering about the browser-based version, it’s still going to be supported.
In the game, players are the CEO of their own spacefaring company. They become part of an MMP economy that’s purely player-driven. According to Simulogics, this allows for unique experiences, various playstyles, and grind-free gameplay.
To move forward in the game, here are some of the factors that players need to take into account:
- Colonization
- There are different criteria to put in mind when making a decision on where to build the first base. These include the atmosphere, minerals, temperature, pressure, access to water, and terrain.
- To survive what the universe has to offer, players need to understand and exploit the complex system.
- Production
- The success of the business is not dependent on the amount of time played, which means no need to grind.
- Players can set their own goals and forge their own destinies.
- Each resource and commodity can and must be produced by a real player.
- Some materials are easy to produce but won’t make you rich. Others are scarce and need careful planning. It's also possible to stumble on a gold mine-like supply chain.
- Trading
- The price is determined by supply and demand in a real-time market exchange that operates 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
- The economy requires players to compete and cooperate with one another.
- Players can trade or bid on commodities, in-game currencies, and even information.
- Bringing wealth to the base is important since it increases the workforce population.
- Shipping
- Spaceships offer players a multitude of strategies.
- Players can establish multiple bases across the galaxy and ferry materials to and from each location.
- Players can fulfill shipment contracts where they deliver resources to other players for a price.
