A sketch of the new PlayStation Neo console was leaked by a Foxconn employee. Found on Chinese forum A9VG, the sketch shows a console that looks like a mix between a PS4 and a PS2.
While the sketch is fairly crude, there are still some design elements we can get from it. For the most part, the PlayStation Neo looks like a PS4, although it is reportedly slightly thicker and heavier. This makes sense, seeing as how the Neo will have improved graphics and processing power. More power means you need a bigger case to fit it all.
For those that don’t know, Foxconn is the company in China responsible with manufacturing a massive number of electronics. Previous projects include both the PS3 and PS4, Apple products and more. If anyone has seen a PlayStation Neo yet, it would be someone from Foxconn.
According to WCCF Tech, the Neo’s specs have also leaked. They are as follows:
CPU: Jaguar, 8 cores@2.1 Ghz
GPU: 36 Compute Units at 911 Mhz
RAM: 8GB GDR5 at 218 GB/s
Of course, like with any other rumor, this should be considered as pure speculation until we have something more official from Sony. We will be getting a big reveal for the Neo, which should also include the announcement of the PS4 Slim, on Sept. 7. The announcement will be taking place in New York City, and will be live streamed on the internet for all to see.
So what do you think? Do you like the potential design for the PlayStation Neo? Would you like to see something a bit more unique compared to the PS4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
