With Microsoft having confirmed the price and release date for Xbox Series S/X, all eyes were set on Sony to make the much-awaited announcement. In today's PlayStation 5 showcase, Sony finally revealed the two variants of PS5, when they will be released, how much they will cost.
The PS5 will come in two variants – Standard Edition for $499 and Digital Edition $399. Fans will be excited to know that the lesser-priced Digital Edition of the console will not feature low-end hardware like the Xbox Series S. It is also important to know that the PS5 Digital Edition will only be missing the disk drive. Everything else will similar to Standard Edition. Now it's up to the fans to decide as to which console they wish to go with. However, both editions of the PS5 will be launching on November 12 in the US and on November 19 worldwide.
This means it is roughly two months before the PS5's release, which should give players enough time to decide whether they want to go with the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Along with the PS5's release date and price reveal, the show also revealed a bunch of exciting games including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Final Fantasy XVI, Demon Souls Remastered, and more. Sony also announced that popular PS4 titles will also be upgrading for the PS5 for free. Fans should be comforted to know that the next generation of gaming is packed with a ton of games.
Now that the PlayStation 5 will be launching on November 12 and Xbox Series X/S on November 10, it will be exciting to watch the competition between the two brands.
PlayStation 5 is releasing on November 12, 2020.
