Publisher ININ Games and developer TAITO officially announced Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!, a new tile-matching puzzle game based on the original Puzzle Bobble from the same developer. Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! is coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023 and will be distributed in the West by ININ Games. There’s no word yet if there will be an accompanying physical release for the game, but the publisher did release an announcement trailer, which you can check out below.
The announcement trailer shows the four-player co-op mode, which sees the four dragons trying to pop all the bubbles together to clear a stage. Besides the overhauled and modernized graphics, not much has changed in the gameplay, and that’s ultimately for the better. Puzzle Bobble was an important game in the tile-matching puzzle genre, and there’s very little else to do when the gameplay is incredibly pristine.
Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! will be the first game in the series to feature this four-player co-op mode and the co-op story mode. In the story mode, up to four players can tackle stages on Rainbow Islands, which is the setting for the game. Each puzzle section is complimented by a story intermission featuring the bubble dragon protagonists as they showcase their unique personalities.
Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! follows the story of Bub, Bob, Peb, and Pab as they journey through Rainbow Island, where a mysterious character named Miniroon lives. One day, Miniroon starts to blow a large number of bubbles, covering the entire island and causing problems for its residents. The four bubble dragons must now step in and help out the residents and stop Miniroon before they become unstoppable in blowing bubbles.
The Puzzle Bobble games are known internationally as Bust-a-Move , first released in 1994. The games were inspired by Bubble Bobble, an arcade game first released in 1986. The series is best known for its simple yet highly addictive game mechanics, and the accompanying cute Japanese animation and music. Bubble Bobble itself spawned numerous inspired titles as the game became the cornerstone for the tile-matching puzzle genre.
