Three years after the last Quadrilateral Cowboy trailer was published, Blendo Games has finally given curious onlookers a timeline for the Steam debut of its upcoming hacking/heist/puzzle game. And Quadrilateral Cowboy is the latest in a growing number of titles receiving last-minute July release dates.
For those who may not remember, Quadrilateral Cowboy is a heist game, set in a fictional world where 56K modems and a little planning are all you need to infiltrate secure buildings. Players control all four members of their team, comprised of a Caseman, an Engineer, a Greaseman and a Hacker, using a briefcase-sized computer to disrupt whatever security systems stand between the team and its current goal. Think of Quadrilateral Cowboy like an Ocean’s Eleven simulator , albeit with a smaller team and more hacking. None of the jobs will be easy but finishing heists that Blendo spent four-plus years designing will hopefully prove to be entertaining. Provided you have the patience for games that rely heavily on trial-and-error gameplay.
Quadrilateral Cowboy was originally shown to press in 2012, during PAX Prime (now PAX West), before mostly disappearing from headlines. Now, Blendo is finally ready to release its latest offering to the general public. In fact, the Windows version of the game will be ready later this month; July 25, to be specific. Unfortunately, Mac and Linux users will have to wait a bit longer -- Blendo hopes to have those versions ready in September -- but Quadrilateral Cowboy should be available on all three platforms before the end of the year.
