The first champion spotlight video for Quake Champions is out today, just as Bethesda and id Software promised on Tuesday, offering an early look at the first of several unique characters being prepared for the upcoming arena shooter. And the first member of the Quake Champions roster to get her own trailer is Nyx, one of a handful of champions to be mentioned during our chat with id Software creative director Tim Willits.

Our latest glimpse of Quake Champions is pretty sparse at 53 seconds in length, but it does manage to convey a surprising amount of information in that time. The video gives us a look at several weapons from the upcoming shooter, all of which should be pretty easy for longtime fans to recognize, along with short glimpses of the same level used to record the Quake Champions closed beta announcement trailer. The new video also gives fans an early look at Nyx’s active and passive skills, which will be unique to each member of the Quake Champions roster.

Here are id Software’s official descriptions for each:

ACTIVE ABILITY – GHOST WALK

Nyx takes a walk on the extradimensional side with her Ghost Walk active ability. Slipping momentarily out of the Dreamlands, Nyx is able to avoid incoming attacks, sneak around threats to get a better angle, or even perform a lethal telefrag when she rematerializes. Should she reenter the Dreamlands in the same physical space as an enemy player, she destroys them from the inside out in a gory spray. While Ghost Walking, Nyx is invisible and invulnerable to all damage.

PASSIVE ABILITY – WALL JUMP

When a jump is just a little too far, Nyx has the solution. Having mastered the art of wall jumping, Nyx can make contact with a wall midway through a jump and perform another jump, doubling her distance. She can even do this while Ghost Walking to move quickly and stealthily through her environment.
