Rainbow Six Siege’s biggest event for 2021, the Six Invitational held in Paris, concluded its first playday in lower brackets for playoffs. The single-elimination format groups meant that the teams in the lower bracket will have to win to survive. All the matches are played in a best of three format, which makes it really competitive.
Match 1: Team oNe vs. SpaceStation Gaming
The first match played on Clubhouse was a dominating victory for SSG as they took the map with a 7-1 scoreline. It wasn’t too surprising because SSG is known to be the best at Clubhouse. However, oNe was able to take the remaining maps, Chalet and Oregon, with respective scorelines of 7-4 and 7-5. It was sad to see SpaceStation Gaming, the winners of the previous majors, go out this early into the tournament. Still, we got to see Troy “Canadian” Jaroslawski come back for one final Invitational.
Match 2: G2 Esports vs. Parabellum Esports
G2 Esports has been one of the worst teams likely due to their lack of coordination. G2 Esports barely made it into the playoffs and threw their first game in the lower brackets against Parabellum, which they got eliminated from the Invitational. G2 lost Villa with a 4-7 scoreline and Kafe Dostoyevsky with a 5-7 scoreline.
Match 3: DarkZero Esports vs. FURIA Esports
DarkZero Esports used to be one of the strongest teams in North America, but after they dropped Matthew "Hotancold" Stevens, the team has been underperforming. DarkZero lost Chalet with a 6-8 scoreline and Consulate with a 2-7 scoreline.
Match 4: Cloud9 vs. MKERS
Cloud9 is another team that placed dead last in groups and barely survived till the playoffs. They were the only APAC team left, which put a lot of pressure on them. During the matches, Cloud9 could not keep up with MKERS playstyle that resulted in losing Coastline with a 2-7 scoreline and Clubhouse with a 4-7 scoreline.
