Rainbow Six Siege Sweden Major has concluded its second playday of Group Stage. The 16 participating teams will be split into four groups and they will play in a double round-robin group format. Only two teams from each group will qualify for the Playoffs.
Team Empire vs. DAMWON Gaming
This match was played on Coastline, which is a map that favors teams with aggressive playstyle. DWG started on the attack and their first round was pretty good. DWG attacked from every side of the map. They had players on Hookah Balcony, Aquarium, V.I.P, and Big Window to cover every angle. DWG just rushed in through every angle and that made it difficult for Empire to hold cross-fires. DWG got the entry kills and planted the defuser to win the first round.
In the fourth round, DWG attempted the exact same push. But they failed this time because Empire learned from their previous mistake. Empire successfully countered DWG’s rush, won the round, and ended the first half with a 5-1 scoreline.
After the side switch, Empire continued to play well and carried their momentum from the first half. The final round was played on Penthouse, which is a really difficult site to defend. DWG thought switching to a different bombsite would catch Empire off-guard. However, Empire was prepared and pushed from the north side of Coastline and just held angles into the theater. Empire kept control of the map and started to plant the defuser. Then Empire's Danil "JoyStiCK" Gabov walked into the site and killed the remaining defender to win the round. Empire won the game with a 7-2 scoreline.
This was an important win for Empire for they'll get a chance to make it to the playoffs if they win a few more games. On the other hand, DWG is quite safe as they have won more matches in the group stage.
