Rainbow Six Siege’s biggest event for 2021, the Six Invitational held in Paris, concluded its semi-final matches in upper brackets for playoffs. The double-elimination format allowed every team that lost from the upper bracket to have another run in the lower bracket. All the matches are played in a best-of-three format, which makes it really competitive.
The upper bracket consisted of three teams from LATAM and only one team from North America.
Match 1: Oxygen Esports vs. Made In Brazil
The first match was between the top NA team and one of the strongest LATAM teams. MIBR won the first map on Chalet with an 8-7 scoreline. The Wamai ban from MIBR allowed them to play more aggressively on attacks as they could use projectiles to clear sites. The second map was played on Villa, and this time, OXG decided to ban Ash to slow down MIBR’s attacks. But MIBR wasn't disturbed by the Ash ban and proceeded with full aggression, which won them the map with a 7-5 scoreline.
Match 2: Ninjas In Pyjamas vs. FaZe Clan
The second match between FaZe and NIP was the most anticipated match for the LATAM community. Both teams have played against each other multiple times in the LATAM leagues, but this time, NIP seemed stronger. The first map was played on Kafe Dostoyevsky where NIP beat FaZe with a 7-5 scoreline.
The second map played on Villa was a super close fight and could have resulted in either team winning. Yet NIP was able to close it out in the final round, winning the match with an 8-7 scoreline.
The next playday matches will be between MIBR and NIP. Only one of these teams will make it to the grand final with one map advantage, while the other team will have to go through the lower brackets.
