"They always leave something behind." Rainbow Six Siege has just introduced its strongest tracker, the Jackal. The new Spanish operator will be available as one of the new operators in the anticipated Operation Velvet Shell update. Check out the badass trailer below:
Following the tragic massacre during the Munich 1972 Summer Olympic Games, Spain founded its own special forces unit to protect its interests during its own turbulent transition to a democratic government. The Spanish Grupo Especial de Operaciones, or G.E.O., was established in 1977.
According to Rainbow Six Siege writer Farah Brixi, the G.E.O often assign roles to its operators based on the individual's proficiency to particular skills and tactics:
"We created Jackal with that in mind, so that he would fully embody a specific playstyle," Brixi explained. "When you pick Jackal you are sending a clear message to the opposing team: now they’ve got a target on their back.”
For Siege's Operation Red Crow update, Ubisoft revealed its attack operator Hibana first. Assuming it's a pattern, and based on Jackal's C7E and PDW9 rifle primary weapon loadout (the ITA 12S and USP 40 are his secondary weapons), it's a safe bet that he is an attacker as well. Without the need of a drone or even an interrogation, Jackal can track down enemies based on the footprints they leave behind. When this skill is used effectively, dark corner campers can't hide and roamers may not be able to execute surprise flanks. Even a stealth defender like Caveira has no place to stalk.
Ubisoft is slated to share more details about its Rainbow Six Siege Operation Velvet Shell operators during the Six Invitational tournament in Montreal, which begins Feb. 3. Stay tuned in the days ahead as we expect to learn more about Jackal as well as Velvet Shell's second operator.
