Come on in, the water is warm! Ubisoft revealed its latest Rainbow Six Siege Operation Velvet Shell update teaser trailer on Monday and it shares a brief preview of the vibrant Coastline map set in temperate Ibiza, Spain.
"Start Year Two on the rocky shore of Ibiza, Spain, with Rainbow Six Operation Velvet Shell," the description for the teaser video read. "The vivid new multiplayer map 'Coastline,' both available in PVP and PVE, is designed to drive a surround flow of combat for a final rush at its core.Get ready for an effervescent night ambiance with neon lights of bars and open-air parties, which Ibiza is famous for. Daytime is a hazy afternoon on a hot summer day after a long night out."
The resort map seems to have a wide-open feel. Coastline features a stony, rustic exterior with a large swimming pool, surrounding palm trees and lush ivy growing along the walls. Inside, we see hotel suites, billiard hall, bars and lounges, a resort surveillance office and more.
Unlike the Skyscraper and Chalet map, the Coastline map seems to have a defined isolated rooftop that give teams a good tactical advantage for games like Extract Hostage in Terrorist Hunt Classic. However, the preview does not indicate any hatches on the roof for breaching.
According to the video, a live demonstration of the latest Rainbow Six Siege Coastline map, accompanied by a panel with the developers, will take place as part of the Rainbow Six Invitational tournament going on from Feb. 3 through Feb. 5. We expect to learn more about the new Rainbow Six Siege Operation Velvet Shell in the days ahead.
The new Coastline map will be available to all players for free immediately following the DLC release. The operators can be unlocked via in-game currency, known as Renown, or can be purchased using real money.
