The holidays are typically seen as a time for people to get together and have a great time. However, the outlaws in the frontier are doing the same except having different towns in their crosshairs. This week in Red Dead Online, everyone is asked to help the towns of Colter, Rhodes, Emerald Ranch, and Hanging Dog Ranch against criminals using White Christmas as cover. It won’t be too long since the Holiday Call to Arms only lasts until January 5.
The problem isn’t only limited to humans. It turns out bears, cougars, wolves, and even dogs are mauling just about everyone. In the middle of all these, there seems to be a locomotive stopping by the towns of Rhodes and Emerald Ranch, bringing in more gunmen.
Things may be difficult but there’s a bit of a silver lining if you can call it that. Those who accept the call get 2X RDO$ and XP. Meanwhile, those able to reach the last wave on any of the Holiday Call to Arms maps get a 50% off any weapon.
If you’re wondering what else is available, that’s pretty much it. It’s not really surprising to learn that a lot of the players are not really happy with this new update. While indeed it’s exciting to finally have snow, there have been calls for new content and even some much-needed changes and improvements.
It was sometime early this month when it was announced that the game wouldn’t be getting an update much like what GTA Online had. There’s also no news when the next big update is coming or about plans for 2022.
What about you? What are your thoughts on this “small” update?
Red Dead Online was originally the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 before it was launched as a standalone game in December 2020. In the game, players take on the role of a silent protagonist who has been freed from prison after being framed for murder. It’s set a year before Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
