Red Dead Redemption 2 developer Rockstar and Sony have announced a partnership for the upcoming Western game. As mentioned in a blog post, Sony consoles will be seeing an exclusivity period on some bonus content.

“For the past 20 years, Rockstar have continually redefined the concept of open worlds,” John Koller wrote in the post. Koller is the vice president of PlayStation brand marketing at Sony. “From the record breaking Grand Theft Auto series, the Midnight Club racing games, the schoolyard comedy Bully, to the breakout hit Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar has consistently delivered on a level that few have managed to match.”

Those playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 will be getting “first access to earn select online content.” Basically, some DLC will be available to PS4 players first, then make its way to Xbox One (sorry PC gamers). From the sound of it, it seems like this will consist of a few rewards that might have anywhere from one to six months exclusivity on PS4.

We do know that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have an online component like GTA Online, so this exclusive content will likely be related to that. Single-player content is probably going to be identical across both consoles.

The blog post ends by announcing the first Red Dead Redemption will be added to PlayStation Now soon. No dates have been revealed, but players will be able to relive the events of Redemption on the PS4 before Red Dead Redemption 2 is released.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see the PS4 become the favored console for Red Dead Redemption 2? Will you be playing through Red Dead Redemption once it is released on PlayStation Now? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
