Red Dead Redemption Remake might not be a fool's dream. We have heard about a possible remaster or remake of the classic Western game for a while now. The latest of such rumors is here. An Amazon posting showed Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaw Collection, which contains a full-blown remake of 2010’s Red Dead Redemption and a next-gen version of its sequel.
These kinds of rumors are not new. We heard about the development of Red Dead Redemption Remake/Remaster early this year. It was apparently being developed by Rockstar India. Just last week, the possible RDR Remaster was spotted on Amazon. However, the actual link leads to nowhere.
Now, within days there has been another leak that is giving some fans hope. Unfortunately, just like previous leaks, the Amazon posting of the Outlaw Collection doesn’t seem that legit. There are several grammatical errors and the concept art looks photoshopped. The release date of The Outlaw Collection is shown as December 31, 2021, but it says you can return the game on Jan 31, 2021. This makes the Amazon posting more fake than real.
However, expecting a Remake or a Remaster of Red Dead Redemption (2010) isn’t that far-fetched. RDR2's map contains half of the map of its predecessor. The old portion of the map contains no missions or points of interest. It’s just there teasing us about something. We do know that the map for RDR was in fact developed by Rockstar. A compilation release of both games for the next-gen consoles makes sense. Additionally, Rockstar's previous major game, Grand Theft Auto 5, is also getting a next-gen release for both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Anyway, a fan can only hope. The original Red Dead Redemption was never released on PC, and I would love to play it there. If previous rumors were true then we can expect Rockstar to announce these games during The Game Awards, which will take place on December 10. We will just have to wait and see.
