We’ve developed an unhealthy relationship with Rick and Morty Season 3. While people have never exactly been stoic about release date waits, the thwarted plans for a 2016 premiere of new episodes left Rick and Morty fans in a state of uncertainty. With no concrete release date set for 2017, rumors are spreading like a super flu. Comicbook.com still maintains production of the new episodes has only just started (this is not true, production is nearly complete). If we’re after chaos, now would be the perfect time for someone closely affiliated with Rick and Morty to jokingly claim Season 3 has been cancelled.
Thank you, Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty. Perhaps tired of the nonstop harassment from people demanding he get back to work (instead of plotting to buy a Nintendo Switch), Roiland presented a nightmare scenario, tweeting, “When they find out it’s never coming… yeesh. It’s gonna get gnarly.”
pretty much. When they find out it's never coming... yeesh. It's gonna get gnarly.

Like with any substantial Twitter thread, the response began with GIFs from people who understood the full context, but soon flooded with earnest inquiries.
please say that you're joking about it never coming! I need season 3 in my life.... ???

JUSTIN WHY YOU GOTTA BE THAT WAY! NOT FUNNY! I've been a die hard fan from the beginning and all I want is Season 3!

This would seem to require an expansion of Poe’s Law. Not only is it impossible to parody extremists without being mistaken for one by someone, it’s not possible to make any joke without someone taking it literally. Or perhaps I’ve been Poe’d and all these people are jokingly freaking out about Justin Roiland’s joking cancellation of Rick and Morty Season 3… this online can implode your brain. Don’t think about it.
Anyway, Roiland isn’t the only one poking this hornets’ nest:
When the fuck is Fargo season 3 coming out? Feels like we've been waiting forever.
