Publisher Brace Yourself Games and developer Tic Toc Games released an announcement trailer for Rift of the NecroDancer, a brand-new standalone title in the NecroDancer series set to be launched on PC via Steam at a still unannounced date. No console versions were yet disclosed, but we can expect them to be revealed soon enough as the first title in the series was also available on them. Check out the first trailer for Rift of the NecroDancer below.
The trailer for Rift of the NecroDancer shows an entirely new game from the first two in the NecroDancer series: Crypt of the NecroDancer and Cadence of Hyrule. This one is a bit more playful with its approach to gameplay, showing three different rhythmic challenges that are sure to keep rhythm players on their toes. That said, it still maintains that distinct NecroDancer flavor, thanks to its music and atmosphere.
Rift of the NecroDancer is a combination of three rhythmic genres: a Rift Mode features rhythm battles against streams of enemies pouring out of a Rift, in the same vein as Guitar Hero and others in the genre. A Mini Game Mode features Cadence overcoming various challenges via rhythm mini-games, as is the case with the classic Rhythm Heaven. Finally, there’s the Boss Battles Mode that sees you defeating powerful bosses with combos and one-two punches, a style highly reminiscent of Punch-Out!
Rift of the NecroDancer follows the return of Cadence, the series protagonist, as she embarks on a new rhythmic journey navigating the modern world while repairing various rifts, which have torn her life apart. It features a brand-new soundtrack from series composer Danny Baranowsky and more.
Rift of the NecroDancer follows Cadence of Hyrule, a spinoff of Crypt of the NecroDancer that pursues Cadence on a crossover journey that sees her meeting with The Legend of Zelda characters like Link and Princess Zelda. It was released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on June 13, 2019. Both Cadence of Hyrule and Crypt of the NecroDancer are turn-based roguelikes with rhythm elements that allow Cadence to use the power of proper timings to beat her enemies.
