After years of waiting, Riot has officially released a League of Legends app. It’s called League Friends and launched today. The app allows you to chat with your friends and see if they are in a game. Previously, there were only third-party apps like LOL Connect if you wanted to chat with your in-game friends. The app has been in beta since January, with Riot only inviting a few select players to test it out.

At launch, it’s only available for the NA region and for Android devices 4.1 and higher. Riot plans to expand to other regions if all goes well. The app is pretty bare bones right now, but Riot plans to add more options. Future features will include an LCS tracker and player spotlights. Riot has also hinted that voice chat may even be a possibility.
