Earlier this year, FromSoftware announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be receiving a new update in October which will introduce a Boss Rush mode, new outfits, and the ability to record gameplay. Recently, the developer confirmed the title of the new update, calling it the Game of the Year update. The Sekiro Game of the Year update is releasing on October 29.
Originally released in 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice quickly gained attention for its brutal difficulty, Japanese lore, and simply for being a FromSoftware title. Players soon discovered that the game has a high skill cap, but mastering the combat and enemy move patterns resulted in rewarding, rhythmic battles.
Soon after Sekiro was released, fans expressed their desire for character skins, and the development of an unofficial boss rush mod led console players to request FromSoftware to create an official version of the game mode. With the boss rush mode, players will be able to directly enter fights with any of the game's bosses or mini-bosses without having to start the game all over again. Most of the rewarding fights in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice are against the bosses. Boss rush mode includes two categories - Reflections of Strength and Gauntlets of Strength. In Reflections of Strength, you'll be facing a single boss. In Gauntlets of Strength, however, you'll need to defeat a chain of mini-bosses before taking on the main boss.
In addition to the boss rush mode, FromSoftware is also introducing a recording feature called remnants, which will record 30 seconds of your gameplay. These clips can then be shared with the gaming community or your friends.
If you haven't played Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice yet, we encourage you to give the game a shot. Although Sekiro is brutally difficult for a newcomer, with some time and practice, the duels become very rewarding. In fact, most duels will even feel like a dance.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
