Silent Hill 2 Remake recently launched and made a vast number of improvements to the original along with adding two new endings that players can unlock.
The two new endings, Bliss and Stillness, are added on top of the classic endings available in the game. Three of these; Leave, In Water, and Maria, have the same basic triggers required to unlock them.
However, the biggest change in the remake is the item locations for the Dog, UFO, and Rebirth endings. The two new endings also require brand-new items that players will have to find and use in the correct places in order to get them.
This guide helps players learn what items they need to get and where to use them if they want to get either the Bliss or the Stillness ending.
The Bliss Ending
Silent Hill 2 Remake's Bliss ending can only be unlocked if you play the game on New Game Plus. You will have to combine the new Rusted Key and Small Chest items so that you can get the White Claudia.
You will then have to drink the White Claudia before watching the tape inside Room 312 of Lakeview Hotel in order to trigger this new ending, according to Eurogamer.
The Small Chest can be found inside the tiny enclosed area on the northwestern side of the Garden in Brookhaven Hospital. You can access this area after you find the 1F Inner Ward Key while solving the Hand puzzle.
On the other hand, the Rusted Key can be obtained from a safe at Pete's Bowl-O-Rama. The code for the safe is 1887, which can be acquired by picking up the Bloody Note beside a body at the northwestern edge of town near the Historical Society.
The Stillness Ending
The second new ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake has a much more difficult requirement in order to unlock. Similar to the Bliss ending, this one can only be unlocked if you are playing New Game Plus.
To get this particular ending, you need to have the Key of Sorrow, which can only be obtained if you have previously achieved the In Water ending. This particular item can be found inside a green car on Wiltse Road beyond a chain link metal gate, Gaming Bolt said.
You then need to use the Key of Sorrow on a freestanding safe on the floor in the Manager's Office and input the code 314 to get the Toluca Postcard. You can unlock the Stillness ending if you investigate it in your inventory.
The addition of the two new endings raises the question of which one is actually canon within the game's storyline.
Some players are now thinking that both endings are canon where James goes through a repetitive loop of the Maria or Bliss endings until he learns to accept his role in Mary's death, according to Screen Rant.
