SimGuruDrake just shot down rumors predicting The Sims 4 would get a game pack in March. In late February, The Sims Community Manager also suggested last month’s restaurant-themed DLC rumor is false. The Sims team may have something lined up for April, but Drake clarified there will be no announcement this week. On the upside, she revealed earlier this month via GIF that a Sims update is in the works. As the Simmer who commented below SimGuruDrake’s forum post politely put it, that’s “Okay, there is a patch. That’s one thing crossed off people’s list.”
“There will not be a pack this month,” SimGuruDrake wrote in the Sims forum Monday. Responding to a thread asking if the next game pack is about restaurants last month, Drake responded to an announcement question with a GIF of a duck shaking its head, No. Then, a trail of hilarious GIFs followed her post.

Rumors about a possible restaurant-themed game pack were sparked from a series of tweets between SimGuruNinja and and a Simmer who wanted to know if a new game pack would be announced soon. The Sims producer responded by with suggestive words like “hungry,” “serve up,” and “fresh info.”

Disappointed in The Sims 4 ’s gameplay options compared to past versions, Simmers are constantly waiting for a game changing DLC release, particularly the addition of toddlers. Currently, Sims can only go on dates to bars, clubs, and cafes which don’t have many interactive dining options. A restaurant pack is an intuitive release that would please everyone. It would give Sims the ability to go to dinner, order from a menu, and pay for their bill with social interactions like marriage proposals, skipping out on the check, and cuddling in a corner booth. Paired with Get To Work, it would be cool to see a Sim be able to open a restaurant of their own.
The rumor was backed by a report last year. EA sent out a Sims Expansion Pack Survey with 7 potential ideas. One of the proposals, called Town Life , included a pop-up restaurant as well as markets where Sims could buy fresh food. The survey said the expansion pack would have community events such as farmers markets, and included ‘restaurants’ under the new venue category. A restaurant game pack may not come in April, but don't take the possiblity off the table completely.
A March game pack release would have been on point with EA’s normal release schedule. The usual pattern is two stuff packs, followed by a game pack or expansion pack. The last game-packed DLC was an expansion pack, Get Together in December, suggesting it’s more likely The Sims team is working on a new game pack which usually releases just a month after the last stuff pack.
EA has not been giving much notice ahead of DLC releases and this seems to be the final straw for some members of the Sims Community. A lot of players prefered a set release schedule like The Sims 3. Looks like we’ll just have to get used to surprises, and apparently funny GIFS to lighten the mood.
