After two years, players had begun to wonder if there was even hope left for a Sims 4 toddler update. A leaked asset for a base toddler structure, along with a teddy bear and baby bottle hanging out in the Dine Out chef’s station, sent speculation wild earlier this year, but EA never confirmed the dev team was working on a toddler patch. But now, the best surprise ever in The Sims 4 has come: the wrath of the toddler. Check out the trailer above!
Executive Producer Lyndsay Pearson shared her joy in a press release Thursday afternoon. “We're excited to announce the biggest update for The Sims 4 to date, and it comes in a surprisingly “little” package.”
While she doesn’t specifically address why the update took so long, Pearson did say the patch has been in the works for a while. She also said creative team does listen to players’ requests and feedback.
“We know that the toddler life stage is an experience that many of you have consistently asked for, and it's very important to us that as we do it in a way that makes sense for The Sims 4 , and feels right for our players,” she said. “We just had to find the right time, resources and design to allow us to start the heavy process of actually building and bringing Toddlers to life. And believe me when I say it has been really REALLY difficult to not talk about this as we worked to get it right.”
Pearson notes TS4 toddlers are very interactive and the patch “highlights the special bonds between parents and toddlers as they grow.” Sims can help their toddlers develop skills by practicing flash cards and having dance parties. Of course, you’ll be teaching them to talk and go potty. You can create a special parental bond by reading them to sleep, carrying them around, or playing on the floor.
“We've added over a hundred new animations, dozens of new interactions, and great new suites of outfits and objects. But most importantly, we've bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims' lives."
Pearson says her toddler loves playing on the tablet and takes naps on the floor. Awwww! What interactions are you hoping for? Let us know in the comments below!
