The Sims 4 first released for Windows in Sept. 2014, then Mac in Feb. 2015. Now, Simmers are patiently awaiting for a Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version. According to multiple reports, EA will release The Sims 4 for consoles later this year, but have faced technical difficulties in the porting process. Recent forum speculation suggested EA may make an announcement late-March, but official confirmation or an announcement is overdue.
The Sims 3 was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii in Oct. 2010, less than 2 years after its initial debut on Mac/Windows in June 2009. Some Simmers fear that fans’ disappointment in The Sims 4 gameplay may cause EA to forgo the console release, but that seems highly unlikely seeing a Sims 5 announcement is years away. Although The Sims 4 has slightly damaged Sims reputation, it’s still one of the most played simulation PC games out right now. Some players are still hanging onto The Sims 3 , which has 20 expansion and stuff packs with extremely versatile gameplay, and most importantly the ability to raise toddlers into flourishing children.
When the Sims 4 does make it to Xbox One and PS4, all 10 current DLC’s--game packs, expansion packs, and stuff packs--are expected to release at the same time. Recent rumors suggested The Sims may get a new game pack this month, but SimGuruDrake refuted the claims earlier this month. Instead, Simmers got a holiday-themed update with Easter egg hunt and Growfruit ‘Spring Challenges.’
