Does your Snapchat app keep crashing? Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. A ton of users have been reporting issues with the app either not opening or crashing every time they try to use a filter.
Though users are making mass reports to Snapchat’s support Twitter account, so far the company doesn’t appear to know why the app is crashing for some.
The problem, it appears, began around 3 am ET on Thursday and is picking up momentum as the day goes on. While Snapchat has offered one suggestion for getting the app to stop crashing, the solution is not working for everyone(We’ve posted the directions below if you want to try it.)
It isn’t clear yet if Snapchat is crashing for both iOS and Android users or if it is isolated to iPhone users, but it does appear a number of iPhone users are posting complaints about the app crashing on Twitter.
If the problem is exclusive to iPhone users, we suspect it could be related to the latest iOS 10 beta that released on Monday. For users who downloaded the beta version of the upcoming software, it’s possible their Snapchat app may crash due to the instability of the platform. The other possibility is that it’s related to a recent platform or app update.
While there isn’t a solid 100 percent working solution to make Snapchat stop crashing, there are a few things we can suggest you try. They solutions have worked for some and we hope they will work for you.
How To Stop Snapchat From Crashing (Try Each Of These In Order)
- Check that your iPhone or Android device is updated with the latest software available. On iPhone this is iOS 9.3.2. You can check for the update in your Settings app > General > Software Update
- Check that you have the latest version of Snapchat installed.
- Completely close the Snapchat app and reopen it
- Delete the app and reinstall it.
- Make sure you don’t have any third-party Snapchat apps installed.
If these solutions don’t work, then you’re in the same boat as some other folks who can’t get Snapchat to stop crashing. At this time, Snapchat is investigating the issue and when a solution is posted, we’ll be sure to update this post.
