A leak for Sonic x Shadow Generations on the Nintendo eShop suggests that the game is getting a DLC next month for only $6.
The upcoming content will tie in with the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie. One notable thing about the DLC that fans are praising is its relatively cheap price. The description says that Shadow is transported to an unknown dimension.
Sonic x Shadow Generations DLC
The black Hedgehog will have to race through the streets of modern-day Shibuya in order to defeat the forces of G.U.N.
Players will take control of Shadow with a new look and run through a unique level that was inspired by the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film, according to My Nintendo News.
Sonic x Shadow Generations was released for consoles and PC on Oct. 25, 2024. A month before its scheduled launch, Sega announced that the game would get a Shadow DLC skin based on the third movie in the trilogy.
What is worth noting about this is that this particular skin will also feature the voice of Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves who also voices the character in the film.
The original announcement noted that the movie DLC pack would be offered as a Digital Deluxe Edition bonus.
There is little reason for fans to doubt the authenticity of the Nintendo eShop leak for the upcoming DLC as it was made by Sega itself. This comes despite some people thinking that the reveal is a little bit premature.
Shadow's Movie Skin
The movie Shadow skin DLC is set to come out on Dec. 12, 2024, which is just a little over a week before the third movie in the franchise is set to release.
Sonic Team producer Shun Nakamura said that the new content was a fun opportunity to mix the two media, Game Rant said.
He added that the DLC will not closely follow the story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and will only take inspiration from it. Modern-day Shibuya is featured in the new content as it is the setting of the third movie in the series.
The movie pack DLC for Sonic x Shadow Generations was originally revealed during PlayStation's last State of Play. It immediately got fans of the franchise hyped up for the potential collision of the movie and the game.
People are hoping that the single level in the DLC would have the base game's feature of alternative paths to make it more enjoyable and replay-worthy, according to The Gamer.
