It looks like Captains need to do double duty starting today as Star Trek Online has started two events. The first one has players get the chance to earn bonus Dilithium Ores. The second is the Galactic Red Alert which sees players defend the Final Frontier as it faces invasion from all sides. Both events start today, April 20, and end May 4.
Bonus Ore
Let’s start with the Dilithium Ore event. Basically, it offers players bonus Dilithium Ore by simply playing the game. Bonus ore is rewarded by the following:
- Vlugta Asteroid Field:
- 100% Bonus Dilithium Ore for Daily Mining Missions
- 100% Bonus to all Rich Dilithium Claims
- Fleet Dilithium Mine:
- 100% Bonus Dilithium Ore for Daily Mining Missions
- Everywhere else in the game
- 50% Bonus Dilithium Ore
All Crew to Battle Stations
Attention Captains! The whole Galaxy is now on Red Alert. Which one? All of them actually, though this is only available for the PC. During the event, players can access the following:
- Borg Red Alert
- Elachi Red Alert
- Tholian Red Alert
- Tzenkethi Red Alert
- Nakuhl Red Alert
Like with previous Galactic Red Alerts, this one hands out the usual rewards plus daily bonus progress. Players get one Daily Progress each day for finishing one Red Alert. It doesn’t matter which one players decide to complete or what character they use.
Once a player gets 10 daily progress, they receive a package that offers:
- An Ultimate Tech Upgrade
- A Specialization Point
- An Experimental Ship Upgrade Token
For those who won’t be able to get the required number of daily progress, they can choose to buy the Grand Prize. The price is going to be adjusted on the number of Daily Progress a player earns.
Those who already have the Grand Prize can still earn Bonus Progress when finishing Red Alerts. While those who manage to complete a Red Alert each day get a bonus Dilithium Ore. The bonus starts at 8,000 and increases 1,000 for each completion after that.
Star Trek Online is an MMORPG available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game is set three decades after what happened in Star Trek: Nemesis . In the game, the United Federation of Planets is again at war with the Klingon Empire after their alliance collapsed. Complicating matters is the reemergence of the Borg Collective as a major threat.
