Star Wars: The Force Awakens is quickly climbing the ranks of the highest-grossing movies of all time, but after the release of Episode 7, fans are looking forward to what the new generation of the Star Wars universe have in store in Episode 8 and beyond.

And while the events of Episode 8 can only be speculated, John Boyega gives a little insight into what fans can expect in the next Star Wars film.

In an interview with Vogue, The Force Awakens actor was asked about the secrets of Episode 7 and Boyega revealed that the cast has just started working on Star Wars: Episode 8.

"Yes, at last! Han Solo dies, OK? He dies. Phew. It feels good. But now, we just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I'm back to keeping secrets again."

Boyega was then asked about the script for Star Wars: Episode 8 after his co-star, Daisy Ridley praised the script and Finn himself had this to say: "It's great. Much darker, but we're very excited."

So Star Wars: Episode 8 is supposed to be darker than The Force Awakens? Makes sense considering how things were left with our favorite new rebels.

We’ll be getting more backstory on Rey and her connection to Luke Skywalker. And most certainly, Episode 8 will be dealing with how Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren killed Luke’s new Jedi recruits.

And speaking of good ol’ Kylo, the villain will be completing his dark side training from Snoak so we’ll likely get to see some of his backstory and why he became estranged from his father Han Solo and mother, Leia.

There’s a lot to tackle with these characters and with the groundwork laid out in The Force Awakens, the film can dive into what makes these characters tick.

But as for Finn, after his battle with Kylo Ren left him injured, Boyega revealed that his role in Episode 8 will be different.

"... for this film [The Force Awakens] we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn't a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more."

Hopefully we’ll get a Kylo and Finn rematch or even better, a Finn and TR-8R rematch. Star Wars: Episode 8 is set to release in 2017.
