State of Decay 2 just got a major update that introduces different things, including some big changes to the outpost system and sidearm switching.
Update 25: Plague Territory is now live on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The Blood Plague has taken over and Plague Hearts have inhabited some outposts. Players need to destroy them to free certain sites, which are needed for community expansion.
Some densely populated areas may contain multiple Plague Hearts, so be sure to destroy each of them.
Upgraded Outposts
Resource Outposts can provide food, fuel, income, or another resource. Upgrading them can unlock new skill training options for your community, as well as increased benefits.
Each Resource Outpost can be upgraded twice. Keep in mind that each upgrade will come with escalating costs and additional requirements.
Every map contains a single Landmark Outpost. Reclaiming it will provide you with three distinct strategies that you can set at any time. Once you set your initial strategy, players can change it at a later time if they desire.
All outposts will have distinct backgrounds on the map to help you distinguish them.
Sidearm Switching
It is quite cumbersome to use only one weapon when fighting hordes of zombies. With Update 25, there will be two weapon slots in your inventory -one for your primary weapon and another for your sidearm.
Primary weapons include assault rifles, most shotguns, rifles, crossbows, grenade launchers, and other special weapons. Sidearms include pistols, assault pistols, revolvers, and short-barreled shotguns.
Players can quickly switch weapons by using a particular button on the controller or a hotkey on the keyboard. These can be remapped in the Settings menu.
Aside from the above-mentioned features, here are some highlights of the update:
- Nutrition now offers +10 Health and Stamina to the entire community
- Metalwork now offers +15% melee weapon durability to the entire community
- Pathology now offers +50 infection resistance to the entire community (instead of +100 to the individual)
