Fans interested in this weekend’s Steep open beta can now begin pre-loading the early build of the game, on a variety of digital services, just as Ubisoft promised last month. Steep won’t actually be playable until November 18, and comes to an end three days later, but this at least gives fans with slower connections a chance to start the 19.5 GB download without losing play time.
According to Ubisoft, three of the seven explorable areas in Steep are available during the game’s beta, along with nine of the 27 “story-driven challenges” spread throughout the Alps. Anyone who finishes all of the developer-designed content will unlock special equipment that carries over to the full release. The game’s GoPro View mode, which moves the camera from third- to first-person perspective, will also be available during the Steep beta. Ubisoft says players can even use their preferred platform’s recording/editing tools to share their favorites runs and tricks with friends. Best of all, pre-loading the beta is as simple as opening PSN, Steam, Uplay and/or Xbox Live, searching for Steep and installing the beta version.

Steep is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts Dec. 2.
