Steven Universe is back with a vengeance, folks. After a frustrating (but necessary) hiatus, we can look forward to a four-week special Steven Universe event titled "In Too Deep." Check out the first-look trailer (via EW) for Steven Universe's "In Too Deep" return from hiatus special event below:
This Steven Universe trailer shares a few new clips even for those who've seen the leaked material (spoiler-heavy) linking the return of Steven Universe to the return of the mighty Malachite, more of Peridot, and even more of Lapis Lazuli. Tonally the trailer is sinister, intimating that the return of Steven Universe will mark a return towards the overaching plot of the Diamond Authority versus their rebellious former colony. There's even a haunting new song in the background, singing "if you could only know what we really are."
The "In Too Deep" special event for Steven Universe starts Thursday May 12 at 7 PM, with two episodes back to back during a 30 minute special on May 12, and then one per week for three weeks following. This is a departure from the Stevenbomb format the show has used to great effect for so long, but at this point, the pleasure is simply getting new episodes of Steven Universe back on TV.
Cartoon Network has also promised a "Summer of Steven" running June through August.
